Thank you for stopping by!
I’m Mel – doula, sling librarian, consultant and trainer, antenatal teacher and postnatal nurturer. I live in Ipswich, Suffolk, with my husband Tom, and 4 children – Niamh, Logan, Xander and Isaac.
I’m passionate about supporting women during pregnancy, birth and postnatally. It’s incredibly important to have this support, and it directly impacts every member of the family. I believe in the idea of finding your tribe, supporting and nurturing each other, and love the fact that what I do enables this process!
Hopefully our paths will cross at some point. One of the things I love most about my job and volunteer work is that I get to meet so many interesting people along the way. Wherever your path leads you, I hope your pregnancy, birth, and parenting journey is filled with love, cuddles and treasured memories.
Tribal Babies is a social enterprise and our profits go towards achieving our social mission.
Our social mission is to provide resources, support and education for new parents, especially those at risk of or living with perinatal depression.
We understand that lack of support is recognised as one of the biggest risk factors when it comes to perinatal depression. We also believe that the impact of how the birth went can play a big part in triggering postnatal depression (for both women and men). With these points in mind, the services Tribal Babies provides are focused on informing, empowering, supporting and nurturing.
Along with the standard services we offer, here are some of the other ways we achieve our social mission:
- Funding slings and workshops for those at a financial disadvantage
- Providing free online antenatal courses for those in need
- Subsidising places on antenatal courses
- Subsidising places on Babywearing Peer Supporter courses
- Funding support packages
We greatly appreciate any donations, whether that be your time, creating or providing resources or donating to our schemes. We are also committed to paying at least the current UK Living Wage to those whose services we engage in any paid capacity, whether that be on a temporary or permanent basis.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you join us on our journey!
